1. What do you do?

The Soft Tissue Centre is the only national service provider in Australia to offer a total onsite injury management service to employers. Our service is designed to manage the health and economic impacts of workplace injuries by treating, preventing, and managing workplace injuries. Each of our consultants has a minimum of 5 years education and training in the specialized Active Release Technique (ART) of soft tissue treatment, which has achieved unprecedented results in treating even stubborn injuries like carpal tunnel quickly and effectively.

Our consultants can treat approximately four patients per hour, plus provide additional medical, administration and knowledge-management services. Our service is a complete injury management solution for employers. Each of our providers is handpicked from a limited pool of practitioners skilled in the Active Release Technique (ART) of soft tissue injury treatment. ART has achieved demonstrable success in the treatment of soft tissue injuries that was previously unheard of.

When you consider the savings that our clients make in terms of reduced statutory claim bills, reduced days lost, reduced workers compensation, higher employee productivity and reduced litigation, our solution is an excellent investment for employers. In reality, not one client has had to “pay” for our services yet. In fact, all have made money from us by reaping the savings of reduced injury management costs and cheaper insurance premiums.

2. Who do you work with?

We provide onsite treatment to employers throughout Australia. We particularly focus on industries that have a high incidence of costly and debilitating soft tissue injuries, such as the food processing or manufacturing industries. We also work with employers in light industry sectors who have high injury management costs.

3. We’re a smaller company – can you help us?

YYes we can help you. There are no injury problems that are small.

4. How can we know whether or not you can help us?

The quickest way to find that out is to contact us and give us an overview of your situation – how many injuries you have, and of what kind etc. If you have soft tissue injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff syndrome, frozen shoulder and back pain, then we will offer you a good solution. We may also recommend that you trial our services for 3-months to experience the results first-hand. At the end of that trial, you will have hard evidence that will allow you to assess for yourself the health and economic benefits of our service on your company and your employees.

5. Can you treat every workplace injury?

No. We specialise in treating soft tissue injuries (including sprains, strains and overuse injuries). There are other classes of injuries such as cuts that we don’t treat. If your industry has a high incidence of soft tissue injuries, then The Soft Tissue Centre may be a good match for your company.

6. What are your credentials?

Every one of our consultants is a primary health care provider such as a physiotherapist, osteopath or chiropractor, with a minimum of 3 years formal training plus additional training in the specific modalities that we specialize in such as dry needling, biopuncture, and Active Release Technique (ART), many of our consultants have a minimum 2 years work experience. The Director of our practice, James Murray, qualified as a chiropractor in 2001 and has over 7 years experience with the ART technique. He’s recognised as one of the foremost authorities on ART in Australia, and regularly holds professional seminars on ART nationwide.

7. What’s your track record?

Our workplace injury management service started in 2000. Since we began, we have treated over 15000 patients managing over 15000 injuries with an average number of treatments to release being under 4 visits. We have produced cost savings of between $470,000 and $2.2 million per annum for each of our clients.

8. Who will treat our workers?

We currently have consultants nation wide. You will be matched up with a consultant in your area. The process is closely monitored by James Murray, Managing Director of The Soft Tissue Centre.

9. Where do you operate?

We operate throughout Australia.

10. Why should we pay money to bring you onsite?

The fact is, injuries are costing you money (often more than you realise), and there will always be some cost to manage injuries in the workplace. By investing in our services, you actually greatly reduce your overall injury management costs. At the same time, you are improving productivity and the health and morale of your employees. Our current clients have net savings of between $470,000 and $2.2 million per annum. That’s after the cost of our services has been factored in.

In the past clients have been concerned that our regular visits only encourage “illness behaviour” (employees becoming more conscious of illness and injury) but our experience to date is that this has not been the case. We find that the vast majority of patients have legitimate injuries, and that the benefits gained by properly treating their injuries more than outweighs any potential negatives.

11. Why do you claim to treat soft tissue injuries more effectively?

We use specific modalities which have been proven to reduce the severity and duration of soft tissue injuries and prevent the onset of chronic pain. Specific modalities such as Active Release Technique soft tissue injury management system has been proven to be a much more effective treatment than other alternatives. Unlike other soft tissue treatment methods, ART gets to the source of the problem, breaking down adhesions and scar tissues. This restores joints and tissues to full function and mobility faster. For example, in 9 out of 10 cases, our consultants are able to resolve carpal tunnel syndrome 3 times faster than the average for other treatment alternatives.

12. Can you reduce our workplace injuries to zero?

No, we can’t totally eliminate all your workplace injuries. There are three reasons for this:

  • Firstly, we only treat soft tissue injuries such as sprains, strains and overuse injuries. There may be other classes of injuries such as cuts that are outside our area of expertise.
  • Secondly, new sprains and strains will occur from time to time that can’t be prevented. However, by resolving these injuries faster, we’re able to reduce total injured worker numbers.
  • Thirdly, there are some soft tissue injury cases (usually chronic) that don’t respond to any kind of manual therapy and may require another treatment option. Rather than continue to attempt to treat these cases indefinitely, we recommend more appropriate options to the patient and you.
