Snack Foods processing is an industry dominated by manual handling tasks associated with product packing and distribution; automation is difficult due to the fragile nature of the products.

We currently average 2.8 visits to release for workplace injuries, which equates to about $252 per case. Our success rate is 95%, and 99% of staff receiving treatment stay on full duties.

There are several trends that are of note with this group of patients:

  • 80% were over the age of 35
  • 40% of the injuries were to the upper limb
  • 65% were sprains and strains
  • 70% of patients cannot recall the onset of symptoms
  • 9% of the injuries were non work related
  • The injuries were reported 38% in the dominant side
  • 31% in the non-dominant side and 30% had a bilateral presentation
  • We estimate to have saved 25 surgeries in the past year alone with this group of clients
