In working with Pork Processors for the past 7 years we have managed over 4,200 unique injuries with our patented early intervention program. This industry is a tough one, with the flood of imported product and sky-high input costs putting pressure on producers and many out of business.

We currently average 3.1 visits to release for workplace injuries in pork processing, which equates to about $247 per case. Our success rate is 98%, and with 97.4% of staff receiving treatment staying on full duties, these clients can maintain productivity and operational flexibility.

There are seven trends that are of note with this group of patients:

  • Over 60% were over the age of 35
  • 51% of the injuries reported are in the upper limb
  • 39% are classified as RSI or nerve entrapments
  • 85% of patients cannot recall the onset of symptoms
  • The injuries were reported 37% in the dominant side, 33 % in the non-dominant side and 30% had a bilateral presentation
  • 30% of the patients had a previous workplace injury history
  • 63% of the patients were non-smokers and 62% drank alcohol
