In the 4 years we have worked for Poultry Processors we have managed over 1,300 unique injuries with our patented early intervention program. This industry is fast-paced, with many businesses operating in a vertical fashion, increasing the potential for risks and injuries.

We currently average 3.6 visits to release for workplace injuries in Poultry Processing, equating to about $287 per case. Our success rate is 96%, and with 97% of staff receiving treatment staying on full duties, we can reduce the cost of claims and injury duration.

There are several trends that are of note with this group of patients:

  • Over 60% were over the age of 35
  • 47% of the injuries reported are in the upper limb
  • 17% of the reported injuries were to the lower back
  • 45% are classified as RSI or nerve entrapments
  • 69% of patients cannot recall the onset of symptoms
  • The injuries were reported 40% in the dominant side, 33 % in the non-dominant side and 27% had a bilateral presentation
  • 23% of the patients had a previous workplace injury history
  • 44% of the patients were smokers and 73% drank alcohol
  • 63% of the patients had between 1 and 10 years service with the same employer
